A highlight of INSC 2023 is ‘Stroke Gurukul’ where reputed senior neurologists would present their insights into important aspects of stroke and its treatment in the setting of a traditional Gurukulam. An exclusive short film BE FAST will be released by the Chief guest during the inaugural function. The film will emphasise the importance of early recognition of stroke and will help educate lay people about it.

Commenting about INSC 2023, Dr. U. Meenakshisundaram, said that stroke is the second most common cause of death in India and a leading cause of disability. In our country, a stroke is estimated to occur every 13 to 21 seconds (about 15 to 24 lakhs strokes every year). Its incidence is increasing as the population ages but it is also becoming a threatening menace among the younger population. However, improvements in prevention, especially acute treatment, and newer methods of neurorehabilitation have the potential to lead to a substantial decrease in the burden of stroke. With INSC, we are committed to help neurologists stay abreast of recent developments in scientific research in stroke and allied disciplines, and to promote, develop, and facilitate exchange of knowledge and experiences among neurologists in managing stroke. The 16th edition of INSC has attracted some of the brightest minds from India and abroad in stroke research and management. Case and oral presentations from experts coupled with workshops would make the event an academically and socially enriching experience for participating delegates”.
